Turning off the password lock in the Gnome screensaver
From K12LTSP Wiki
In K12LTSP5, the Gnome desktop screensaver defaults to locking the desktop, and requiring the user's password to be unlocked. This can cause problems with younger users and autologin IDs. To diable the locking, but not the screensaver, run gconf-editor (which you may need to install as it's not installed by default), go to apps -> gnome-screensaver, and uncheck 'lock enabled'. Then right-click on 'lock enabled' and choose 'set as mandatory'. This last step will make this the default setting and prevent users from changing it.
