Novell authentication with synchronized UID GID and no home directory on LTSP server

What I basically wanted was :

  • the home of the user on Novell must be mounted as /home/user on the LTS.
  • pam authentication using NDS database
  • Don't use anything user related on the LTS (no data files no auth. stuff NOTHING)
  • Make it scalable/maintainable (multiple LTS boxes) WITHOUT scripts cronjobs etc to keep things in sync
  • The LTS is there just as a server serving apps nothing else.
  • DHCP is done by NDS server (not on the LTSP box)
  • Lock it down as much as possible
